Memories on Main Antiques and Collectibles is located in the Historic District of downtown Mt. Airy, NC. The popular tourist town known as Mayberry was made famous by the 1960's mega-hit sitcom "The Andy Griffith Show." Mt. Airy is the birthplace of American icon, Andy Griffith, and is the fictional "Mayberry" that the series was based upon.
Our business is in the 100 block of North Main Street and is adjacent to The Historic Earle Theatre. The shop sits across the street from Opie's Candy Store, Floyd's Barber Shop, and Snappy Lunch. Our building was originally two stores: The Mount Airy Pool Room and the barbershop of Mr. Russell Hiatt, commonly known around town as "Floyd" the barber from The Andy Griffith Show.
We also offer heritage arts instruction our Main Street Studio under the direction of Rose Ayers. Our studio is currently closed due to our move. We hope to offer classes again starting in the fall of 2018.. Our mission is "Keeping Memories Alive." Among our class offerings are barn quilting (replicating old quilt square patterns on canvas), needle work, painting with acrylics and oils, chair caning, and much more. We are doing our best to schedule for you needs. Our registration process is under review. This fall our classes will be expanded to include children. Contact Rose at 336-378-0000 or 336-416-7658 for details on taking a class or perhaps becoming one of our instructors.
